Proposals, for the Atromitos FC mascot.
some months ago, Atromitos FC, a greek football club of the first national championship, asked me to draw their mascot. there were some restrictions, they wanted the uniform to be excactly like the real one, and not to use a star as a character, which is the logo of the team, but they thought it would be childish, or a pigeon, which is and the name of the area this team belongs, because as they said, express inosence and wouldnt be the ideal thing for a football team..
These were my suggestions. a gorilla, that they asked me to draw, and a rhino, which was an idea of mine. i didnt choose the rhino without a reason, there is a consept behind it. Atromitos, means, the one that fears nothing. so rhino, is an animal of great power, and if it starts running, nothing can stop it. but not only that. this rhino, has a magic horn that has the shape of a star (like their logo) that helps him to aim, and never miss a goal. so i made a hero, with the compination of brutal power and spirit, and other charactiristics, that would help a lot the team to sell things related to this character, and create a myth around it.
early this summer, they fired their marketing director, the one i was talking with, and the procedure stopped there, we didnt make it to come to an agreement.
a couple of weeks ago, i saw at their website , that they have some mascot proposals for their fans, to choose. i felt strange, because all of them are based on a pigeon, and some uniform changes, things, that didnt allow me to do, and i couldnt understand why. i guess they didnt like my design skills, or its a strange world, or i should be more carefull with people that ask for my services.
Anyway, these are the suggestions they propose to their fans to choose between
